Boston Logan (BOS) has nonstop flights to around 160 destinations over the next twelve months, and around 25 of them are in Europe. Among US airports only Newark and JFK reach more European cities. From Boston the flights are shorter, and every European destination Logan shares with JFK is between 10 and 45 minutes closer in the schedules.
So for a group trip from different cities, a family reunion or a company offsite with people on both sides of the Atlantic, Boston often has the shortest ocean crossing. For a group entirely inside the US, it sits in the northeast corner of the map, and a central hub is usually fairer.
The numbers behind Logan
Logan has nonstop flights to around 160 destinations over the next twelve months. Figures are from Midway’s route data as of October 2026, counted for Logan alone and rounded to the nearest 5. Providence (PVD) and Manchester (MHT), the two airports often used instead of Logan, are not in Midway’s route data, so this guide covers Logan only.
Its list splits into around 95 cities in the US states and around 65 outside them, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands included. Canada has seven of the destinations outside the US, and Portugal and the Dominican Republic four each. The Caribbean has 16, most of them on JetBlue.
Eight of Logan’s destinations have no nonstop from any other US airport in Midway’s data. All of them are small airports in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, northern New York and Cape Cod, such as Bar Harbor, Rutland and Provincetown. Most are on Cape Air, which flies from Logan to eleven airports, from Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard and Hyannis to Bar Harbor and Saranac Lake.
Routes to Europe
Logan reaches around 25 European destinations, and 18 of them run in every month of the current schedules. They are London Heathrow, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Vienna, Copenhagen, Dublin, Shannon, Reykjavik, Lisbon, Porto, Madrid, Rome and Istanbul, plus Ponta Delgada and Terceira in the Azores. Barcelona, Edinburgh, Milan, Nice, Athens, Venice and London Gatwick run mostly in spring and summer.
Every European city that Logan and JFK both serve is a shorter flight from Boston, by 10 to 45 minutes on the shortest schedule, and no US airport in Midway’s data has a shorter flight to any of them. Heathrow is about 6h45 from Boston, Dublin about 6h00 and Reykjavik about 5h15. Ponta Delgada is under five hours, and Boston is the only US airport in Midway’s data with flights to both Azores airports in every month. The Iceland, Azores and Bermuda guide covers those three as halfway points.
Newark and JFK still reach many more European cities, so for a group whose European side lives in Warsaw, Berlin, Brussels, Oslo, Stockholm or Helsinki, New York has the route and Boston does not. The US–Europe meeting destinations guide compares the options on the other side.
Routes beyond Europe
Outside Europe and North America the list is short. Logan has four cities in East Asia, all year-round: Tokyo Narita on Japan Airlines, Seoul on Korean Air, Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific and Beijing on Hainan Airlines. It has four in the Middle East (Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv) and three in Mexico (Cancún, Mexico City and Guadalajara).
South America has only Bogotá and São Paulo. Nothing in the data goes from Logan to Africa, South Asia or Oceania, so a group with someone in Mumbai, Lagos or Sydney will connect somewhere, or meet at a Gulf hub instead.
Airlines at Logan
Delta flies to about half of Logan’s destinations and JetBlue to a little under half. American is third, on about a quarter, and Southwest has a short list of around a dozen cities, among them Chicago Midway, Baltimore, Denver and Nashville. Neither Delta nor JetBlue is the only airline on more than a dozen of Logan’s routes.
That puts Boston closer to Los Angeles, where no airline reaches half the list, than to Atlanta, where Delta serves almost every route. So for a group with mixed loyalties, a Delta flyer and a JetBlue flyer will both usually find a long list of nonstops from Logan.
See which destinations your group can reach from Boston. Enter everyone’s departure airports and Midway lists the cities all of them reach nonstop. It does not cover Providence or Manchester, so anyone flying from there should check their own airport’s schedules.
Routes that change with the season
A little over a quarter of Logan’s destinations do not run in every month of the next twelve. The number running in any one month barely changes over the year. What changes is where the flights go.
Summer brings most of the seasonal European cities, with Venice and London Gatwick from May, plus Vancouver from June and Anchorage from June to August. Winter brings Grand Cayman, Saint Lucia, Liberia in Costa Rica and Key West, and Hayden (for Steamboat Springs) from January to March. Honolulu runs only in December and January.
So for a group date several months out, check the month before assuming a route exists. Midway’s month filter shows the destinations that run in the month you pick, and it cannot tell you whether an airline will add or drop a route after the schedules it has. Southwest’s flights to Chicago Midway and Dallas Love Field, for example, are not yet scheduled for September 2027, the last month in the data.
A worked example
Take a group flying from Chicago O’Hare, Portland (Oregon) and Porto. They share six destinations in Midway’s data: Amsterdam, Boston, Frankfurt, New York JFK, Newark and Philadelphia. Boston, Newark and Amsterdam have all three routes in every month, while JFK depends on a Porto route that runs eleven months and Frankfurt on a Portland route that runs five.
Counted as total time in the air, Boston is the shortest option at about 15h20 across the three flights, but Newark, JFK and Philadelphia are all within about 20 minutes of it. Boston also has the shortest longest leg, about 7h30 from Porto on TAP, against about 7h50 to JFK and 8h05 to Newark. So the choice between Boston and New York comes down to the airline and the city more than the flying time.

Times are the shortest monthly schedule over the next twelve months. Flights toward Boston take a different time, mostly because of prevailing winds.
Planning a group meeting in Boston
Getting around. Logan is in East Boston, across the harbor from downtown. The Silver Line bus runs from the terminals to South Station, and a shuttle bus links them to the Blue Line subway. Downtown, Back Bay and Cambridge are compact, and the subway and walking cover most trips between them.
Seasons. Winters are cold, and snowstorms can cancel flights for a day or more. Autumn is usually the busiest season for visitors, and the Boston Marathon in April and college graduations in May also fill hotels. Summer has the most European routes from Logan.
Budget. Boston is rarely a cheap meeting city. Hotels downtown and in Cambridge are among the more expensive in the US, and they rise further in graduation season and in autumn. Staying further out along a subway line usually costs less.
Who meets in Boston
Groups spanning the Atlantic. The strongest case. Logan’s year-round list covers many of Western Europe’s capitals and largest hubs, and its flights are shorter than New York’s. The US–Europe family reunion guide covers the planning on both sides.
Groups in the Northeast and eastern Canada. Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Halifax all have year-round nonstops to Logan. Amtrak trains from South Station and Back Bay also reach Providence, New York and Washington, so part of the group can come by rail.
Groups spread across the US. It works for the East Coast. For a group spread across the whole country, the West Coast half flies five hours or more each way, and a central city such as Chicago or Denver is probably fairer. The split-coasts offsite guide compares them.
Groups that include Asia. Logan’s four East Asian cities cover Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong and Beijing. For anywhere else in Asia, San Francisco or Los Angeles reaches far more, and the US–Asia meeting destinations guide covers the options.
The route count settles reach for a group with one side in Europe. It does not settle Boston against New York, which are often within minutes of each other, so check both before picking.
