Four friends in Washington, Atlanta, Denver and the San Francisco Bay Area have around 70 destinations served nonstop from all four cities, according to Midway’s route data for the next twelve months. Four friends in Pittsburgh, Nashville, Kansas City and Salt Lake City have around 35. Both groups span four regions of the country, and the size of the home airports changes the list more than the distance between them.
This page works through three groups of four friends, each with one city per region, and the destinations that suit each group. The data covers the next twelve months of schedules for the 600 busiest airports, as of October 2026, and counts are rounded to the nearest 5. A destination is shared when every city has a nonstop (no change of plane) to it in at least one month.
The method for any set of cities is in the guide to where three friends in different cities can meet. A trio of the three largest metros is covered in where to meet from New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Washington is a metro area in Midway, so entering WAS combines Reagan National, Dulles and Baltimore-Washington. The Bay Area is not, because it has no IATA metropolitan code, so the link above uses SFO. For this group that loses only Houston Hobby, which Oakland and San José reach and SFO does not. Flight times from the Bay Area on this page are from the fastest of its three airports, so a search from SFO alone can show a few minutes more.
Washington, Atlanta, Denver and the Bay Area
Most of this list runs all year: around 50 destinations have nonstops from all four cities in every month of the next twelve. It is mostly US cities, plus Toronto, Montreal and Calgary, four cities in Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Panama City and six in Europe. Every one of the four cities also reaches the other three nonstop.
Among the destinations served all year, Kansas City and Omaha have the shortest longest flight, about 3h30 from the Bay Area. Kansas City is about 2h45 from Washington, 2h10 from Atlanta and 1h35 from Denver, with two to four airlines on each route. Dallas Love Field is ten minutes shorter, but it is Southwest only from three of the four cities and listed only to August 2027.
San Antonio is the Midway Point for the group (the shared destination Midway marks as the fairest by distance), at about 3h45 from Washington, 2h35 from Atlanta, 2h10 from Denver and 3h30 from the Bay Area. Austin has the most even split on the list, with the four flights within about 1h10 of each other: 3h35, 2h45, 2h25 and 3h25. The Austin guide covers it as a meeting city.
Hosting in Denver is the other option. It is about 3h50 from Washington, 3h20 from Atlanta and 2h30 from the Bay Area, and whoever lives in Denver does not fly at all. That longest flight is about 20 minutes more than the one to Kansas City. The Denver guide covers the airport and the city.
The mountain towns are winter routes from three of the four cities. Vail, Hayden (for Steamboat Springs) and Jackson are shared from December to March only. Anchorage, Calgary and Paris are shared from May to September, and the Denver flight limits Paris.
Boston, Miami, San Diego and Seattle
The four corners of the contiguous US share around 45 destinations, mostly in the US, plus Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, London, Amsterdam and Munich. San Diego has the shortest list of the four, around 90 destinations, and it sets the ceiling. On every shared destination at least one of the four flies about 3h40 or more.
Kansas City has the shortest longest flight and the most even split, at about 3h40 from Boston, 3h30 from Miami, 3h10 from San Diego and 3h30 from Seattle. The San Diego route is Southwest’s and is listed only to August 2027. Minneapolis runs all year with two or three airlines on each route, at about 3h30, 4h00, 3h45 and 3h20, all within about 40 minutes.
The Midway Point for this group is Omaha, on a thin basis. Boston’s only Omaha nonstop in the data is a Delta flight listed for April 2027, so the four cities share Omaha in that month only. With any other month selected in Midway’s month filter, the Midway Point moves to Kansas City, or to Minneapolis for September 2027. So for this group it is worth setting the month before reading the Midway Point.
Each of the four cities reaches the other three nonstop, but hosting is harder here. Whichever city hosts, someone flies at least about 5h45, against about 3h40 to Kansas City. London and Amsterdam run all year from all four, at about 7 hours from Boston and 10h30 to 10h45 from San Diego, and Munich is shared from October to March.
Pittsburgh, Nashville, Kansas City and Salt Lake City
Around 35 destinations are served nonstop from all four cities. All of them are in the US except Cancún, which is shared from November to July. Pittsburgh reaches around 65 destinations and Kansas City around 60, against around 130 for Nashville and around 110 for Salt Lake City.
Pittsburgh and Salt Lake City share around 40 destinations as a pair, and adding Nashville and Kansas City removes only three of them: Nashville itself, Toronto and London. That is the pattern described in the three friends guide: the two cities with the least in common set the size of the list.
The flights are shorter than in the other two groups. Minneapolis is the Midway Point and has the shortest longest flight: about 2h20 from Pittsburgh, 2h15 from Nashville, 1h30 from Kansas City and 2h35 from Salt Lake City, all year. Delta is the only airline listed from Pittsburgh and Kansas City, so departure times are limited.
Thin networks show up in the airlines too. Only eight of the shared destinations have two or more airlines from every city, and around 20 have nonstops from all four in every month. Ten more are listed every month except September 2027, most of them on Southwest routes. Southwest’s routes in the data mostly stop at August 2027, which is more likely a schedule not loaded yet than a seasonal gap.
Only Nashville and Salt Lake City can host, because they are the two cities the other three reach nonstop. Nashville is about 1h40 from Pittsburgh, 1h35 from Kansas City and 3h20 from Salt Lake City, which is longer than the longest flight to Minneapolis. For this group a fourth city is probably the simpler answer.

A fifth or sixth city
Midway takes up to six departure cities. Adding Minneapolis and Dallas-Fort Worth to the first group still leaves around 60 shared destinations, more than the four mid-size cities share. Adding Sacramento to the third group leaves around 25. Each hub added removes little, because most of what the group already shares is on its map. A smaller airport removes more.
The three groups side by side
| Home cities | Shared* | Every month | Midway Point | Shortest longest flight, all year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Washington, Atlanta, Denver, Bay Area | ~70 | ~50 | San Antonio | Kansas City and Omaha, 3h30 |
| Boston, Miami, San Diego, Seattle | ~45 | ~25 | Omaha (April 2027 only) | Minneapolis, 4h00 |
| Pittsburgh, Nashville, Kansas City, Salt Lake City | ~35 | ~20 | Minneapolis | Minneapolis, 2h35 |
*Shared and every-month counts are rounded to the nearest 5. “Every month” counts the destinations with a nonstop from all four cities in each of the next twelve months. Flight times are the typical fastest scheduled nonstop from any airport of each city (the median across the months the route runs), rounded to 5 minutes.
Before the vote
The shared list settles where everyone can fly without a connection. It does not settle the fares from four airports or the weekend that works for all four, and in a group spread this wide those usually take longer than the destination. The group trip planning guide covers the vote and the booking.
